Buy Philips Sonicare Brush Heads

In short: Yes. After six months of testing generic and brand-name electric toothbrush heads in a literal head-to-head comparison, we found we liked using those from Oral-B and Philips Sonicare best. Although the generic brush heads will get the job done, the bristles in the ones we tested felt stiffer (and a bit prickly, even) compared with the brand-name ones. This sounds like a minor issue, but according to Marcelo Araujo, vice president of the Science Institute at the American Dental Association, brush feel actually matters a lot when it comes to maintaining oral health.

To reach this conclusion, I started by combing through the plentiful generic brush-head offerings at retailers like Amazon and Walmart to find top-rated best sellers. We identified two options with great reviews (and good Fakespot ratings): one compatible with our top pick electric toothbrush, from Oral-B, and one compatible with our favorite Sonicare model. Then, I rotated through the brush heads, using each as my toothbrush for about six weeks, twice a day.

Replace the old, worn out head of your Sonicare toothbrush with this Philips Sonicare Plaque Control Brush Heads 6-Pack. Toothbrushes get less effective as you use them. Normally, this means throwing out the toothbrush and getting a brand new one to replace it. However, when you invest in a Philips Sonicare toothbrush, you don't simply throw it away and buy a new one. Having replaceable heads is what makes the Sonicare toothbrush such a good investment in the first place. Sonicare is the #1 recommended electric toothbrush brand by dental professionals.

These are some of the most advanced toothbrush heads available. Philips has created a toothbrush head that is engineered to maximize its plaque-fighting ability. Its special concave design hugs your teeth and gets as close as possible to get plaque off of them where it does the most damage.

Generally speaking, you should replace your brush head every three months. This keeps the bristles firm and ensures that you are getting the most cleaning power possible every time you brush. Since there are six different brush heads in this Philips Sonicare Plaque Control Brush Heads six pack, that means you'll be stocked up on toothbrush heads for eighteen months, or an entire year and a half.

This rating that Sonicare bestows on some of their brush head designs is an indication of the level of tooth-to-bristle contact that takes place during use. A higher value would generally be associated with heads that are more effective plaque removers.

Almost all current Sonicare models have a design where their brush head snaps into place over a rod on the toothbrush handle. This is in comparison to the older-style e-Series brush heads that have a large screw-on fitting (currently, only the Essence model uses this type of head).

There are three different types of connector block available. The standard block shown above (top photo), which is fitted with a tall rubber seal and a solid plastic collar clipped over the seal. There is also a ridge on the metal shaft that the collar clips to.The second type shown above (middle photo) has a flat seal with no collar, and no ridge on the metal shaft. This type can be retrofitted to most brushes that take the standard connector block. The third type of block shown above (bottom photo) has a flat seal with no collar, but also has a coil of copper wire wound around the white plastic surround. This is for brushes which need to sense the chip in the smart brush heads. This type of block cannot be retrofitted to brushes requiring the first two types of connector block.

The most common type of charger is the HX6100 shown below. It is compatible with nearly all Sonicare toothbrushes apart from classic DiamondClean and DiamondClean Smart models. This Sonicare charger is sometimes supplied with an optional shroud, cover or surround which includes holders for your brush heads. The alternative part number is CRP239. Replacement chargers are commonly available, both new and used. Check that the charger you buy has a suitable power plug fitted. See the links below the photo for where to buy.

Also compatible with the same models as the HX6100 above, are the HX6150 and HX6160 chargers. These chargers include a built-in ultraviolet (UV) sanitizer to sanitize your toothbrush heads. The alternative part number is CP0741. The compartment on the charger contains a UV lamp and it opens up for you to place your toothbrush heads in for sterilization/disinfection. Spare UV bulbs/lamps are also available. Check that the charger you buy has a suitable power plug fitted. See the links below the photo for where to buy a new one.

The classic DiamondClean Sonicares were also available with a charging travel case (HX9210) which allows you to store your toothbrush with its heads and easily recharge it whilst travelling. The travel case is available in various colours, including grey/green, black/green (CP0470), black/purple (CP0471), pink/white and rose-gold/white (CP0475). See the links below the photo for where to buy a new carging travel case.

The E-Series Sonicare brushes were sold under the Advance, Elite, Essence and Xtreme model names and the model numbers a4000,e5000,e7000 and e9000. They came with large, screw-on replacement heads as pictured below.

It sounds like these are older E-series Sonicare toothbrushes with the large screw-on heads. Your brush might be one of the Elite, Essence, Advance or Xtreme models in the E-series. Heads for the E-series brushes are available new on eBay here.

After researching dozens of models on the market, we purchased the 12 most promising electric toothbrush heads available today. If you are looking for the best toothbrush head for your electric toothbrush, we have you covered. Our team of experts rigorously tested each one to determine which left our pearly whites the cleanest and brightest, which lasted the longest, and which are the best bang for the buck. Our review distills the information you need to sort through the overwhelming number of options out there so you can feel confident with your next purchase.

We did not find a ton of downsides with this brush head. With that in mind, it's a brand name replacement head, which means it will typically cost more than off-brand products. Though it didn't perform as well on molar chewing surfaces as it did between teeth, its performance is exceptional. One other minor inconvenience is that the heads lack a color ID ring and all look identical, meaning that if you share a brush base with someone else, you'll have to find a different way to tell them apart. However, if you are a Philips Sonicare user (or would like to be), this brush head is our top recommendation for most people.

The caveat with its cleaning is that it doesn't get in between teeth quite as well, leaving some noticeable plaque behind. The comparatively thick stem was also noteworthy during testing; it's more substantial than brushes that fit on the Sonicare line, so this is not an excellent option for people with smaller mouths. Despite the claim, we didn't find that these bristles were especially soft. However, if you are a committed Oral-B user and want a solid alternative to pricey name-brand brush heads, this is your best bet.

Our review process started with thorough research into the market to assess what was available. After selecting the toothbrush heads we wanted to test, we purchased them all at retail price and got to brushing. The models in this review have been through it all. We use a rigorous side-by-side process, and our testers brushed and brushed with each one, noting how much plaque each one removed under varied conditions and how comfortable the brushes are to use. We employed plaque-disclosing tablets that highlight plaque and make it possible to see what a brush has removed.

We assess the toothbrush heads in this review in a couple of metrics. Each model has gone through the same hands-on, real-world testing to determine how it ranks in cleaning capability as well as comfort for the brushed.

The Spinbrush Pro Clean covers a lot of tooth area with every stroke. The toothbrush head itself is large, and its dual-action motion of rotating and sliding is at least a psychological boost that it is getting the job done well and provides options for brushing teeth effectively at different angles. The Sensitive Gum Care proved to be more effective than generic brush heads at cleaning, especially when reaching in between teeth. It feels relatively similar to the rounded attachment dentists use to polish teeth. The Oral-B Precision Clean removed more visible plaque than the generic Oral-B compatible brush heads, and the Voguish Replacement Toothbrush Heads actually performed even more effectively. 041b061a72
